Spring 2007
Rehearsals begin again
9th May
Time to start again – brush off your
dancing shoes and practice your scales!
Next show is going to be a review –
along the same lines as the last show. Brenda Brown has kindly offered to
produce it again, and Gerald Hart will be keeping us in order with the music.
To find out more come along to the first
rehearsal on 9th May where there will be more detail about the show,
and the plans for rehearsals.
We are starting early, because there is
no spring show. This will give us more flexibility to work round the summer
holiday, when the rehearsal room can get a bit empty! Also Gerald is going to be
very busy with the Scouts this summer so if we start early and get music learnt
then we will be able to carry on while he is away.
Feedback from people who saw the last
show has been very positive and I am sure we can do the same again. Anyone that
was in the show will agree that it was hard work, but there was never a dull
moment.
See you there

AGM – New Faces
18th April was the Annual General Meeting. It brought a
mixture of sadness and changes, but also hope for the future and positive ideas.
We remembered the sad loss of Bessie Prosser and all the
hard work she used to put into the Society.
We also said goodbye to Gill Mitchell as Chairman of the Society. We
thanked Gill for all her efforts over the years and the great things she has
achieved in her time as Chairman and other roles on the Committee. It is her
chance to take a well-deserved rest, and enjoy the rehearsals and the shows
without the added pressures.
We welcomed Jim Dakin as our new Chairman, and we all
wish him the best as he finds his feet in the new role.
Jim thanked Gill for all her work over the years. He said he was
approaching the role with positive thoughts and ideas, as it is a tough time for
the Society and wants a fresh start to look at the new challenges that face us
in the future.
I somehow managed to volunteer for Vice Chairman – not
sure how that happened!

Charity Concert at the Bridgewater Hall
Sunday 25th March – 7:30pm
“That’s Entertainment”
What a
success! Our 20 minutes of fame –
went in a flash but we will remember it for long time to come.
ßwaiting
to go on stage
The day started well with us turning up
at the artists’ entrance of the Bridgewater Hall. Our first tentative venture
out onto the stage was a bit daunting. We only had chance for 2 rehearsals with
the musical director – which turned out to be a rather worrying experience. He
had a totally different idea of speeds than our music suggested.
We desperately tried to fit all the words to ’76 Trombones’ into
twice the speed, and frantically squeezed all the dance steps in!
In the end he gave in and came back down to what we had rehearsed.
The actual performance was superb. All
who have commented said we were the smartest, the best rehearsed and looked very
professional.
Well done to all for their hard work –
and especially to Brenda and Gerald for bringing it all together.
